Thank you to everyone who has patiently supported the Australian Veteran Linguist Association (AVLA) while waiting for memberships to open. We are pleased to share that AVLA is now ready to welcome eligible members as we take this important next step in building our association.

Before opening memberships, it was important that we first established the right foundations. This included developing the governance framework, policies, insurances, and support structures needed to ensure AVLA is well positioned to support members from the outset.

Over the past few months, we have also reviewed and streamlined our original membership framework. One of the most significant updates has been the move to a single membership fee structure. While Ordinary and Associate membership categories will remain in place for logistical reasons, we have identified a way to streamline our services so they are equally accessible to both types of membership and can therefore come under the same membership fee.

This streamlined approach will reduce administrative requirements and allow us to focus more time and resources on initiatives that benefit all members across the AVLA community.

Become a Founding Member

We are delighted to invite everyone who meets AVLA’s eligibility criteria to formally join as Founding Members. A one-time application fee of $10.00 applies to all new members, with 12-month membership currently set at $50.00.

In recognition of those who join and support AVLA at the beginning of our journey, Founding Members will be exempt from any annual membership fee increases until 2030.

How to join

If you have already registered your interest, you should have received an email from us in early August 2026 with further information (may need to check junk folder). If you have not yet registered, we invite you to complete the membership form so we can begin the process with you.

Once we receive your form, we will be in touch to discuss your membership and outline the next steps.
